Windows users have been haunted for ever with the specter of defragging a disk in order to free up valuable space and make the drive run better. Window’s defrag does the job well (after all, its a creature of their own invention) but sometimes you want more information on the fragmentation than you get with window’s defrag. Enter Lacelevel2 from DiskLace software.
LaceLevel2 is a fragmentation analyzer. It won’t defrag your disk for you but in less than 60 seconds you can get the status of your drive. The cool thing is that for partitions under 80gb in size, the software is free (as in beer). I downloaded it today to give it a spin and I was pleasantly surprised.
I’m usually a little wary of software downloads online, especially free ones, but I downloaded it anyways and installed it. The only “extra” offered was the google desktop, I unchecked the box and finished the install. I did run adaware (by lavasoft) after the install but it only found the usual tracking cookies from the sites I visit so I was happy with that. I ran the program and it was at a lacelevel 3.5 (whatever that means). It ran quickly as promised on the < 20gb partition I ran it on which was nice. The only thing I would like is a better description of the level of fragmentation on the drive.
They do offer an “analysis” of the finding, but that wasn’t much better than the one the program gave right off the bat. Still, its a handy little tool and at a price of free, the price is pretty good.
One poll at a time apparently. On the side of the Democrats it seems that Hillary Clinton’s lead in New Hampshire is Slowly Slipping Away. This is good news for Obama and other Democrat wanna-bes. It was once thought that Hillary was unstoppable but thats beginning to show not to be the case as the primary season nears (less that a month away now!). NH isn’t the only place Clinton seems to be loosing her grip as her numbers slip elsewhere as well.
On the right side of the aisle, Hopeful Mike Huckabee has surged ahead in key states while Romney and Guliani are battling it out for Third place right now. This is extremely good news for Mike as his campaign picks up steam and forges ahead against all the negative press beginning to make its way out about the Arkansas Gov. I like mike and I was pleased to see that he’s adding some big guns to his campaign team.
I think Huckabee is going to be the country’s best chance of getting away from the Income Tax and moving towards the revolutionary idea of the Fair Tax.
