Meals Made Easy

RoastDinner_468x332 I do all the cooking. I mean, if I’m at home and someone needs popcorn or cereal poured, its all me. Amy tried cooking once and she managed to set an egg on fire boiling it, so I do all the cooking. I’m usually struggling for ways to make dinner for the four of us that would be eaten by all. Its tough with two under five year olds in the house and something that I’m only successful at maybe half the time. Until I discovered E Mealz.

E-MEALZ Easy Meals for Busy and Frugal Families makes things a snap. “But mcangeli, how can that be?” You ask. Easy. E-mealz knows whats coming up for sale at your favorite store (wal-mart, aldi’s, publix, kroger, ralphs and other stores) and creates a dinner menu for 7 days based on the sale items. You not only get good meals, but you *SAVE* money as well. They also have low-fat menus available as well! Can’t beat that with a stick.

The kicker? Its only $15 for three months (use the Coupon word DAVE and save on top of that!). So, here’s the scoop, for $1.25 a week, you get a 7 night meal plan (with a main course and sides) thats built around the sales of the week. The Publix Plan has been a good thing for us as I now have a good list for food shopping and know what we’re having every night! Try it for three months. I bet you’ll eat better and save some money too!

Find a Bargain!

Christmas is right around the corner (well, after we get past the family fiasco known as Thanksgiving) and along with that comes the task of finding the perfect presents for the technophile in all of us. Luckily there’s a site that makes it both easy and cost effective to supply our inner geek with the latest and greatest with out going over budget, tech bargains.com.

Tech Bargains is the latest in the online tech shop game with a slew of awesome prices on some pretty cool stuff (How does a Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD High-Definition DVD Player $199.99, $7.63 shipping. 8 free HD DVDs by mail sound to you?). They scour the web to find the best deals on tech devices from HD DVD players to cameras and GPS units and they share the good news with you. Plus, they offer reviews, email updates, rss feeds to get the latest and mobile access so you can get the goods from anywhere you are.

One of the coolest features I found was the ability to set alerts for those specific items I’ve been looking for. This way, I can save both time and energy. One more purchase and I think I’m done shopping for Christmas. Have you started yet?

What a politico weekend it was…

Man what a weekend politics had. The GOP was hit when it was let out that one of Thompson’s Aides was the target of a drug bust. He announced his resignation today (the aide, not Thompson). I hope this doesn’t hurt the Fred too much. Edwards took more shots at Hillary claiming that she talks differently than she votes (which we already knew) as well as:

“Sen. Clinton is voting like a hawk in Washington, while talking like a dove in Iowa and New Hampshire,” the former North Carolina senator said during a speech at the University of Iowa, according to prepared remarks. “One of her advisors told the New York Times that was because she was shifting from primary mode to general election mode. Well, we only need one mode from our president - tell the truth mode all the time.”

Of course, good news for both Edwards and the rest of the democratic field is that hillary’s numbers are slipping slightly and one may argue that she has no where to go but down.

Of course, the winner of the weekend is Barack Obama, who was able to get in some jabs at the clintons and score points with the cool crowd by muttering those famous Saturday Night words…

While I absolutely love the almost accurate charactures of the candidates (hillary was seen as a witch despite being dressed as a bride) I still have an issue with the way Obama always seems to be a Holier than Thou type person. One can only wonder….

Friday Night Pyro

Smaller than my usual Friday Night Pyro (the Friday Night Show’s for the Braves were a decent size). this one was three boxes, with three plates in each, two gerbs and 4 mines (all smaller ones). The boxes were pre-wired and setup in the PD so that we just had to connect everything together and press the button and fire. Eric was a little close when he shot the video (you can see the boxes and some of the stuff going off) and you can see some of the good stuff. Next time I’ll try to get it a little better.

Chore time

Grace is all about the money. The other day, she told Amy that we needed to go to the bank and get some bank (her word for money) so that she could put it in her purse and go shopping. Grace is four. While I think she is a little young to get cash for doing chores and what not, I may have to look at an option like the Target gift card available from payJr and their Chore Chart.

Designed with the under 12 crowd in mind, it allows you to create a reloadable target gift card for your charge, helping you teach fiscal responsibility at an early age in a positive way. Its also a good way to doll out allowance (this way they don’t have to worry about loosing or keeping track of cash) and since the card is only good at target, you can kind of keep an eye on what they purchase and where the money goes. The site is nice as it allows parents and children to keep track of chores online, refill the card, even designate a portion to go towards savings as opposed to being loaded on the card.

Yea, she’s only four, and there is very little she can do around the house, but maybe its time she’s rewarded for keeping her toy area clean or helping with other chores around the house.

Nothin but Luv!!

I’ve added another super cool plugin to the site that will benefit you more than it does me (at least if you post comments anyways). CommentLuv is another fiddyP plugin that I’ve decided to rock on the site. What it does is scour the site you submit as your site when you comment and it pulls the last post from your RSS or feedburner feed. This rocks for two reasons. One, you get links back to your last post, embedded deeper on my site, and two, I get to see what your posting.

If you’d like to see how it works, leave a comment. Yes, this might benefit the spammers out there, but i do a fairly tight job moderating the comments as it is.

Sensitive

Amy has sensitive teeth. The dentist wants her to use a toothpaste like sensodyne or one of the other “sensitive teeth” ones to help cut down on the sensitivity (of course, he also wants her to sleep with a mouth guard in at night to keep her from grinding her teeth… but thats another topic for another post). We recently came across a new player in the sensitive market that claims they can help rebuild teeth to prevent sensitivity, Biotene Sensitive Toothpaste.

When we first tried it (both of us tried it), the first thing we noticed was the fact that it wasn’t minty like your usual toothpaste. It has a sweeter taste that almost reminded me of Grace’s toothpaste (disney princesses). I’m not too fond of sweet tooth paste as I like mine to be minty fresh. It did however help my dry mouth out. Amy said that it didn’t feel too different from the other toothpaste she had been using, but like me, she wasn’t too sure about the taste. We’re going to use it for a while though to see if it does help as it claims:

  • Maximum sensitivity protection with Biotene’s advanced Enzyme LP3 Complex™ for dry mouth relief
  • Promotes healing of bleeding guyms and inflammation that can cause tooth sensitivity
  • Delicious flavor fights cavities and the causes and effects of bad breath

While some of the other pastes available out there help mask and dull down the pain from sensitive teeth, Bioteen claims it can actually help prevent and resolve the issue. Apparently, thats what the “Enzzyme LP3 Complex™” in this Sensitive Toothpaste does best. Time will tell, but if you want to try it out check your local drugstore for a tube.
